Last year I experienced Burning Man for the first time, ever. This year however- for various reasons- I bowed-out and stayed home.

Just Accountability

Oscar Grant absolutely deserves justice. Johannes Mehserle serving a punitive sentence of some sort, would be a great start. Looking at the situation from a wider view, however: will penalizing one rent-a-cop remedy the larger situation that Mr. Grant succumbed to?

What has always bothered me about our system of crime-and-punishment in the United States, is that we always seek to penalize messengers, without ever critically examining the systems behind those messengers. We seek redemption
